The Unmet Need

Medical dismissal isn't a perception problem.
It's a documented crisis.

Black women in America face a healthcare system not designed with them in mind. They are systematically under-believed, under-treated, and under-served — not from lack of intelligence or advocacy, but because of structural bias baked into the system itself.

The cost is not inconvenience. The cost is lives. And no tool on the market addresses this in the appointment room, where it matters most.

34%
Of Black women report their symptoms are not taken seriously — rising significantly when controlling for severity of complaint
10x
Higher maternal mortality rate for Black women than white women — the most stark racial health disparity in U.S. medicine
9 yrs
Average endometriosis diagnosis delay — double the national average for Black women, driven by dismissal of pain reports

The Founder

Why Milka is the only person who can build this.

PharmD · MBA · Oncology Executive · Founder

PharmD MBA — High Point University Eli Lilly Oncology Content Creator Charlotte, NC

Milka is a pharmaceutical executive at Eli Lilly with a PharmD and an MBA from High Point University, and a career built in high-performance oncology sales — one of the most clinically demanding environments in the industry.

She saw firsthand what happens when clinical knowledge is withheld from patients. She watched Black women leave appointments unheard, underdiagnosed, and undertreated — and she recognized that the missing piece was a real-time clinical advocate in the room.

AdvocateHer is built at the intersection of her clinical expertise, her lived experience as an Eritrean-American woman, and her credibility as an established content creator with an existing national audience. No app founder in this space has her combination of credentials.

"I didn't build AdvocateHer because I saw a market opportunity. I built it because I know what happens when a Black woman walks into a room without a clinical advocate in her corner — because I was one."
